All About Me and My Own Pets

I am a lady with a big heart and strong drive to succeed in all that I do! I have been lucky enough to have animals in my life from the start, they have taught me a lot and still do to this day. I have had a wide variety of animals; hamsters, rats, rabbits, doves, ducks, chickens, cats, dogs, horses, tropical/pond fish, reptiles, etc. I'm not phased and enjoy learning more and more everyday.

I have a reward based style of training with my animals which sometimes involves a clicker but not limited to this. I use an enthusiastic approach to the positive (and desired!) behaviour and ignore the undesirable behaviour we are sometimes faced with. Making the right choice easy and the wrong choice more difficult!

I have worked with horses since I was 13 and moved to both horses and dogs when I was 15, working in a kennels. I trained with horses at several yards including Bedgebury Equestrian College where I worked/lived on site.

Eventually, I ended up with my own horses and travelled them to Spain. I spent 3 years living out there with my parents training and enjoying the joys of mountain riding when the unexpected happened...

Dogs, abandoned dogs. We had several stray dogs turn up terrified and in poor health, which we fed up with what we could afford. All were lovely but we were sadly not in a position to take them all in, except one... (Please see 'MY PETS' below)

I came back to the UK and studied to become a nanny, which I was for 5 years successfully but still had that desire to work with animals...

So I decided to try starting my own dog walking/pet sitting business and putting my connection I have with animals to work. To this day it is the best decision I have made. Putting my clients minds at rest knowing their pets are in safe hands; is one of the best things about this job.

My Pets
Jouke

Jouke was my first owned horse along with Wolter. He was very fearful, wouldn't allow his head to be touched, barely backed, would bolt and not in particuarly good shape. Now he is worked bitless (without a bit in his mouth), and trained using positive reinforcement). This includes a clicker sometimes but the reward based training is not just food based. We have a mutual respect for one another and scratches/voice aids play a big part in what we do! Jouke is mainly trained on the ground, some driven work, general in hand work and trained stunts such as rearing.

Jouke now has a performing animal license for film, TV and photoshoot work. xxx

Wolter

Mr Wolt was my first owned horse along with Jouke. He was extremely bargy, strong, full of anger when ridden and not in particuarly good shape. Now he is worked bitless (without a bit in his mouth), and trained using positive reinforcement). This includes a clicker sometimes but the reward based training is not just food based. We have a mutual respect for one another and scratches/voice aids play a big part in what we do! Wolter is used for driving, some ridden work and general in hand work.

Wolter now has a performing animal license for film, TV and photoshoot work. xxx

Poppy

My Poppy turned up, laying under a bush. She had been thrown out of a car and was extremely weak and skinny, with signs of mange. She was hungry but too scared to come to us so we left food out for 4 weeks until her confidence finally grew enough for her to brave a cuddle! After that, we were inseperable and she came home to the UK with me, the vet predicted she was only 5 months old. Now she is an active, happy trick dog and truly my best friend, she continues to grow in confidence everyday. Poppy now has a performing animal license for film, TV and photoshoot work. xxx

Lilly, Billie & Cassie

Lilly, Billie and Cassie are all related. They are great characters and very stubborn but a joy to have around our home. Lilly gave birth to Billie and Cassie in a planned breeding as we wanted to have another Westie with Lilly's wonderful temperment. We ended up keeping two of the six Westie pups as we loved them so much! They all do a number of tricks but are mainly just family pets :) xxx

Kaiser

Kaiser is a beautiful bright, eager boy. He spends a lot of time with me around the stables when I see to the horses. He loves to be active and enjoys agility and chasing his ball! xxx

Fancy Rats

I currently have 2 rats Ozzy & Lemmy, they are great! They are very loving and in many ways are like mini dogs. I clicker train them and they are coming to call, fetching a ball, going through a hoop, spinning and lots more. They are very clever and excel at different things, although small they certainly add a lot to the home. xxx

Chickens

Our chickens were hatched in an incubator and hand reared, they are kept purely for eggs and as pets. Some recently hatched were wonderful little bantams, they are extremely friendly. xxx

Tropical Fish

I have a love for my tropical planted fish tanks, which I have 3 of. I keep a number of different tetras, breeding cichlids and shrimp xxx

My Pets That Have Passed
Sheba
Benson

My darling Sheba passed over rainbow bridge 22/08/2015 at the amazing age of thirteen and a half years. A beautiful, kind, strong girl who will be missed dearly. xxx

Big Benson passed over rainbow bridge 02/07/2014 at the age of eight years. A gentle giant who was Poppy's 'sidekick' and a big presence in our home. Benson was the son of Sheba. xxx

Charlie

My cheeky boy Charlie passed over rainbow bridge 16/05/2014 at the great age of fifteen and a half years. We owned his mother so I had been with him since he was born, my absolute best friend that I will never replace. xxx

Squeak

My clever Squeak passed over rainbow bridge 08/05/2017 at the age of 21months. Gone too soon from a tumour. Thankful for all the wonderful times we had together, a small animal that gave so much. xxx

Bubble

My one of a kind and first rat passed over rainbow bridge 15/12/2017 at the age of 28 months. Lived a long life in rat terms and passed peacefully in his cage from old age. Thankful for all the wonderful times we had together, a small animal that gave so much. xxx

Ringo

Ringo was the runt of the litter, he was tough although small and super friendly. Sadly he passed over the rainbow bridge sooner than expected on 23/08/2018 at the age of 15 months but he had a fabulous life. xxx

Hendrix
Zeppelin
Slash

My dear Slash was a rescue we took on with his brother Axel, he passed over rainbow bridge 18/12/2017 at the age of roughly 21months. Losing Bubble was too much for him as they were very close. Thankful for all the wonderful times we had together, a small animal that gave so much. xxx

Hendrix

Hendrix passed over rainbow bridge 1/5/2019 at the age of 24 months. Such an amazing rattie who loved nothing more than chilling on your shoulder. xxx
